BSNB Cares About Community

Through employee volunteer efforts and the bank’s financial donations, we continuously strive to make a meaningful contribution to the quality of life in the communities we serve. Below, you’ll find featured partnerships. To learn more about the bank's volunteer efforts, visit BSNB Volunteers in Action.

Helping to End Area Hunger

For the bank’s fifth annual Food Drive, BSNB partnered with bank customers to provide assistance to area food pantries. Customers donated nearly $3,400 in monetary donations and in response BSNB provided a matching gift of $3,400. The combined total of $6,800 benefited twelve organizations across the region. In addition, a generous amount of non-perishable food items were also collected.

The food pantries benefitting from the bank’s efforts are: Christ Episcopal Church Food Pantry, Christ’s Cupboard – First Baptist Church, United Methodist Church – Ballston Spa, Saratoga Economic Opportunity Council, CAPTAIN Food Pantry, Malta Community Center, Greenfield Food Pantry, United Methodist Church – Burnt Hills, Shenendehowa Helping Hands Food Pantry, Greater Galway Community Services Association, Stillwater United Church, and the Wilton Food Pantry.

Ballston Spa Central School District
FIRST Robotics Competition

BSNB proudly supports the Ballston Spa High School FIRST Robotics Team. The bank’s $6,000 in annual funding combined with additional corporate sponsorships, grants, and team fundraising, has allowed the district’s team to design and construct robots, participate in regional competitions, and continue to expand the robotics initiatives in the district.

“At BSNB, we value educational programs that prepare students for the workplace. By partnering with the Ballston Spa Central School District on efforts such as the robotics program, we’re investing in our future leaders and innovators,” said Christopher R. Dowd, BSNB President and CEO.

The Ballston Spa High School FIRST Robotics Team is an award winning team, placing at various competitions since its creation. For more information, visit http://team3044.com/.

SHELLSTRONG Foundation

BSNB recently donated $5,000 to the SHELLSTRONG Foundation to help promote the Foundation’s goal of helping children in need. The Foundation supports Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Albany Medical Center, Double H Ranch in Lake Luzerne, and high school scholarship recipients and other community members in need. Matt and Kim Shell of Burnt Hills created the SHELLSTRONG Foundation in 2011. Jacob, the Shell’s son, was diagnosed at age 8 with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. Today, at age 14, Jacob is cancer-free. “Under the direction of a strong leadership team, the SHELLSTRONG Foundation has made a significant difference in the lives of children and families in need,” said Christopher R. Dowd, BSNB president and CEO. “In making this contribution, we at BSNB hope to assist the Foundation in furthering their support of the community.”
